China's Chairmanship and Vision
On January 1, 2022, China assumed the BRICS Chairmanship, marking a new phase of collaboration and innovation. Under the leadership of China's BRICS Sherpa and Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu, a series of significant events took shape. The 2022 BRICS Sherpas' Meetings paved the way for a comprehensive cooperation vision across various sectors. These meetings culminated in the successful hosting of the 14th BRICS Summit and the BRICS Business Forum on June 22, 2022. Moreover, the 8th BRICS Parliamentary Forum (PF) Assembly, hosted by Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), added a parliamentary dimension to the ongoing dialogue.
South Africa's Chairmanship and Continuity
Adhering to the principle of chairmanship rotation, South Africa took up the mantle of BRICS Chairmanship on January 1, 2023. Building upon the momentum generated during China's tenure, South Africa embraced the responsibility of preparing and hosting both the 15th BRICS Summit and the 9th BRICS PF Assembly.
